I hate concrete work. Kudos to you. You work unbelievably hard. Just a side note, a respirator is good to wear when pouring in the bags into the mixer.

A fine job April! Noting like chewing that concrete dust...I was the mixer as a lad. I like how you got your buddy to dig, it reminds me of family gatherings, we always get into a project at somebody's house. Great video

You are so inspiring! My father used to tell i couldn't do stuff like that, but im about to buy my first house and i will have to renovate the kitchen and the house by myself. I am loving that you give me to curage to go forth with my project and not care what anyone say. Thank you so much for the biggest gift anyone have ever given me. <3 Tone Irene from Norway

Great job, but here's a couple tips. First dig a deeper foundation and fill it with gravel and compact it, then add the sand and compact it. This will give the slab a sturdy foundation that will be less likely to sink over time. Second, if the concrete is sticking to the mixer add more water, your mix did look a little dry. But for a first time concrete pour you did pretty good.

crushed limestone used for driveways makes a much more stable base than sand. Sand settles when it dries, crushed limestone will compact and never settle. Especially important in the rust belt where frost can create problems. Just wish more contractors did it right.

great job! Just to be picky a little, next time you dont need to waste money on rebars and metal string ties...just buy a pre-made square section and cut it to size. also, you dont need those rebar risers....just put some stone or anything you find (non wood) to lift it 1/3 of the way while it cures. Last, I would use gravel instead of sand as a sub base to poor concrete....other than that you really impressed the hell out of me. I have employees (men) who would give up way before you.

Hello April ! What a girl hihi :) For the concrete, you could have use more water, it make it easier to flat. You can wet your surface when flatting, it will help. And don't wait, flat right away. Nice shop !
